In about three weeks, I'm going to be talking to a dozen or so agents from my office about getting started in blogging.
Oh what to say -- what to focus on -- what's most important?
- I want to share a list of blogging ideas so folks realize they don't have to stare at a blank page.
- I want to share the importance of knowing your voice, and the style in which you plan to post
- I want to share about niche marketing, and,
- I want to share about the power of online networking, referrals, information, education.
In addition to that,
- I want to stress the consistency and commitment it takes to blog.
- I want to share how important the resource of blogging on ACTIVERAIN is.
- I want to inspire my peers to find their own voice.
Why, you may ask? Why create competition? Why "help" a fellow agent?
I read an integresting blog post this morning called, Engage, by Jon Kolsky
He shared information on a "danger report" , with summaries on top dangers that pose a severe or critical threat to the real estate industry. Keeping in mind that we have over 2 million real estate agents in the US, here's a very real problem and was listed with the highest degree of danger, an index of 100: Masses of Marginal Agents Destroy Reputation
We all know there are agents out there that do not know their stuff. Or perhaps they do not ascribe to the Code of Ethics, or haven't had the training, or the leadership...
Folks wonder what they can do to make a change. And change...well that's necessary as well if we are to adapt and evolve with a changing industry.
Does one voice make a difference? What about a collective voice? What about a professional group through a channel known as ActiveRain?
I support blogging. I believe in it as a professional forum, and as a personal platform in which to effectively share in a proper manner to the public.
Through ActiveRain blogging we become aware of industry challenges, problems other agents face, teamwork, possibility thinking, and just general education. This network allows us to grow, and make better the profession called Real Estate. It stimulated conversations with others in our industry, our office, our brokers and our workplace.
Why not do our own little part to help raise the standard, starting with ourselves?
Maybe I digressed a bit from the start of this posting, but...I'm hoping that by inspiring others to blog, together we move forward another step. Together we engage in positively promoting and growing our real estate careers.
