FHA mortgage insurance will increase on new case files starting April 9, 2012.

  • New upfront MIP = 1.75% - added to loan
  • New montly MIP = 1.25% - added to payment     cash in hand
Hm....I just got the email this morning, and it sounds like change is in the air for FHA requirements again.  In order to have that low down payment, you're going to have to pay more in fees, and more surcharges are going to be added to your monthly payment.

It's hard to know what the right loan program is for you and your needs.  Do you have an experienced loan or mortgage officer with whom to talk?
