A T & T Must Work For the Government; Or, The Case of the $115.00 Screw
Cell contracts. If you own a smart phone, or a cell phone - most likely you are familiar with the best of them. Generally a 2 year contract - big deductibles on the "insurance" or "Warranty Service" that doesn't cover things like dropping them in water or in this case, missing a screw.
Said screw is about the size of the one you find in eyeglasses. Those of you that wear them - you know, when the screw falls out and you can't wear your glasses and without your glasses you can't even SEE the screw.
Turns out that AT & T Pantech phones have that same microscopic screw. And it's worth big bucks.

My daughter got a new phone right before Christmas, and along in February - it just died. Never to start again. We called AT & T and were told that since we didn't drop it in water and got the pink dots back by the battery, we could use our warranty service for a new phone. A new REFURBISHED phone.
It came in the mail about a week later, and my daughter promptly mailed back the defective phone. Two weeks later, here came the defective phone back with a bill for $115.00 and a letter saying we "disabled" the phone.
My daughter called immediately, in a huff, to demand explanation.
It turns out, the tiny, tiny screw for which we haven't a screwdriver was missing and they say we "disabled" it - $115. please.
So I called AT & T and asked for re-consideration of "the case"...in my nicest manner. NOPE. Package arrived in good condition and they say we removed the screw.
Now - in a court of law you at least have innocent until proven guilty, and such a thing called motive comes into play. For what reason would we dismantle a new phone in order to get a refurbished phone, which by the way, has a screen that's turned hot pink and it locks up while texting every other day?
Motive indeed.
So I tensely ordered that insurance cover it and now the screw costs $50.
Verizon - here I come just as soon as my contract ends. So much for 10 years of history, minimum with AT & T - they obviously don't believe the customer is always right, or provide quality customer service.
Do me a favor - share this blog on your Facebook, Twitter, etc. There are plenty of other service providers out there that deserve our business more than AT & T.
$115 to get screwed. What's that saying - what goes around comes around? Mighty corporations have fallen in the past, and the IPhone, Android and other medium are giving the big guys a run in the product department.
I am always happy to pass on trusted professionals and vendors in my real estate career. However, in this post - I dramatically say that AT & T will not be getting my repeat business. And their customer service will not be getting my recommendation.
