I received this email through LinkedIn this weekend, for the second time, and got to ruminating about the different spiels one hears on a daily basis as a REALTOR. There is always another agency broker calling, Zillow, Trulia and Realtor.com calling, the local newspaper calling, and on and on....
Everyone has the REASON why, as REALTORS, we need their secret to success.
So, more than I intended, I thought about the above email this weekend, and again this morning.
1. AM I good at my job? Well, I have been very successful for the past four years but every October looms and I start worrying about whether or not my pipeline is full enough for the next year to forecast steady business. I think we need to stay on our toes.
2. Do I build my business? Networking; check. Staying in touch with past clients; check. Blogging; check. Prospecting; check. Open houses; check.
3. Does my ideal market include the most affluent? Does it HAVE to? I've been working my model and raising my transaction average over the years, but would I leave ANY client behind? No... Do I touch on reaching all leads through networking, blogging, etc.? Well, yes.
4. Did I watch his video about advertising in a local community newspaper? Well yes, I did. During an open house I held yesterday. Is it the secret to my success? Hmmm, I advertised in the local community newspaper for 7 years where I live....I can safely say it is NOT the sole secret to my success.
Takeway - analyze your business, make sure it's a complete package. Should you try new things -- of course. Will they be the golden ticket? Hmmm, I tend to think, through my professional history, that success is a combination of many things that evolve with changing markets and clients.
