4 Thoughts on Growing your Business

I asked a coworker this week if he could take over my bi-weekly "Growing your Business" class coming up,  and he decided on the topic of creative ways to grow your business relationships. 


He asked for my own contribution to the discussion, and since I awoke early this morning,  I sat down to brainstorm.


Here's what immediately came to mind:

Connect people to people. Don't you feel affirmed when a friend wants you to meet one of their friends you don't know? Same applies in business.

Get personal - have a coffee/soda/watch the sunset moment. ( example: Take your new out of staters to Gates Pass for Cocoa at sunset)

Diversify - go beyond your normal circle and meet folks in unrelated organizations - say media or government. Listen more talk less. Forums and Feedback - do you do social media?

Going online - What if you had an Ask The Realtor broadcast once a week where you could answer questions you come across. It doesn't have to be serious! Where's the best ice cream in Tucson? What's the biggest challenge you faced with home ownership this week? What makes your home HOME for you? Sky's the limit - get creative and get consistent with a forum or answer questions segment. What if you had a forum where your homeowners can vent, share stories, interact? Studies show weight loss, grief, coping groups flourish with forums.

I'd love your own thoughts on growing your customer base and business networks - outside of the box of course. How do you grow your business in new and exciting ways?

We have an agent on our team who gets a lot of business from her Zumba classes. She goes to work out, has great fun with other people, and they remember her when they need to buy or sell. Sometimes it's just about getting yourself out there and interacting with people (perhaps, stepping outside a confort zone?). You can have fun while you do it. It doesn't have to be about networking, business, or selling real estate.

Our "Nacco Tacho Tuesday" is a weekly event that is one on one with....a contractor, buyer, seller, lender, lawyer, title company....an informal "get to know you better"....people who like you....refer to you.
