I received an interesting email a few days back addressing New Year's Resolutions and mantras. Within it, the author suggested that we, instead of naming a resolution that may or may not hold up throughout all of 2019, choose a word that may define or guide us.
That word may be regarding our experiences, supporting our actions and thoughts, whatever we wish it to be.
Her inspiration for Word of the Year chose "clarity". She (that send the email) chose the word, "engagement". Engage was the word I chose when I moved to Long Realty years ago, and that word changed my life and my career.
It all made me liken back to a week after joining Long Realty and her speech that included, and I'm paraphrasing a bit, something along the lines of...
"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten."
Perhaps 2019 can be a year of change for you.
What's some exciting words that might apply to your life and career?
Balance?
Health?
Self-Emprovement?
Catalyst?
Organization?
Positivity?
Intrepid?
Leaving you with one last thought...
I received another email with this cute, short blessing in German. "Guten Rutsch"
Further explained, Wiktionary shares the following:
"Literally ‘good slide’, suggesting one slides into the new year."
May you slide into 2019 with all good intentions and follow through.

Hi Cara- so few of us keep resolutions but choosing a word that expresses what you hope to achieve through the year may bea a better way to go.
Hi Cara,
I wrote about my word for 2019 on December 27th... Education. I've done this for a few years and it helps clarify my focus for the year.
